Letter to the President: So, you’re in charge? Oh, really?

President Obama has suggested he, and the federal gubmint is effectively calling all the shots on the Gulf oil spill. But with more and more of those shots going astray like a badly aimed bullet, it’s really not hard to see that they ARE NOT in charge… and never have been.

Seriously? Obama has suggested — on more than one occasion — that the federal gubmint is calling all the shots in the Gulf at the big oil spill, and we can all rest assured that BP is acting ONLY under the direct supervision of his (Obama’s) administration.

Yeah, right!

If you’re one of his Great Unwashed drunk on his Kool-Aid, you might be under the impression that his is “personally engaged” and has been “on top of this since Day One.”

Right!

If that’s the case, how is it possible that their big, fancy “top kill” procedure was stopped for 16 hours while apparently you and almost everyone else… including your Coast Guard commandant didn’t know about it?

Mr. Obama, I know you’ll never read this, but maybe one of your lackeys can bring it to your attention…

You huffed and puffed like the Big Bad Wolf and came out with a bunch of strong statements, pledging unflagging support to “fix this situation,” when all you’re actually good at is tearing things up (and down). You say, “The federal government has been in charge.” “Make no mistake, BP is operating at our direction.”

Seriously? You really expect us to believe that sh*t?

Is it also at your direction that the public is being kept in the dark? Does being “in charge” mean allowing a corporation that has already stumbled into a calamity to treat the public’s interest and concern as if it is something they can get around to addressing whenever they feel like it?

I mean, it really doesn’t matter at this point. They (BP) probably know more about what to do than the rest of us anyway.

Presidential power is mostly by perception. And right now, you’re perceived as pretty flacid. When any president allows circumstances to make him look like a dope by the cadre of corporations (and a few banks), easily fooled or cowed, the country itself is undermined. How in the world could we EVER be proud of someone like you — someone who is so inept?

But, that shouldn’t come as any surprise. You’ve never run a company or had a business. You’re just a community organizer and your resume is going to remain thin… even when your term as Prez is finished.

It’s not enough to talk tough. Somehow, you just don’t carry the authority of Teddy Roosevelt or Harry Truman. Frankly, I don’t think you could carry a stick much bigger than your skinny legs.

Your response to this disaster is looking pathetic.

Maybe you should call some people who know how to deal with these situations. I know a few of them. They work for companies like Halliburton, Red Adair, Boots and Coots, Hess, Texaco, Exxon (as in Valdeze)… just to name a few.

Get down to the Gulf and stay there until you really are in charge…not just saying it. And while you’re there, get out on one of those clean up boats and give them a hand. You just might learn something.
